Peter Brown - For Your Love remixxx

DJ Steve - Peter Brown - For Your Love (45'' Remix) by StephenSilvestri

Unfortunately I cannot find a link on Youtube for this song, but if you really would like, I can dub the copy I have into mp3. This is a snippet of one of my shows on the Hunter College radio station.

Here, I am employing a turntable technique which is pretty sweet, and which is why you keep hearing me start and stop the record in the beginning. Basically, you start one copy of the record, and then you start the other copy of the record on the other turntable one beat behind it. So you get the neat effect of having an "echo" effect when switching between Deck 1 and 2. In other words, when the BASS drum hits the first beat on DECK 1, the DECK TWO is hitting the SNARE on beat 4. And so it continues. My employment of the technique is a beat sloppy. I need to keep practicing, and making sure that the primary mix (Deck 1) is always being dropped on a strong beat, not before or after.

DJ Steve - WHCS Hunter College Radio Set - Part 1 and 2

Dj Steve Show #2 by StephenSilvestri

Well it's been quite awhile since my last BLOGGERFILE. I've been eligible for significant institutional mental and physical rehabilitation lately but I am happy now to have some time and creative energy to bring you THIS. Its a mix that I made on Hunter College's radio station, WHCS. Check it out at http://whcs.hunter.cuny.edu. I have been the General Manager of it for about a year now - a position which I am contentedly preparing to relinquish this semester, as I am SLATED FOR GRADUATION!

Hope you enjoy these mixes, and the banter that ensues. If you care about a tracklisting, let me know. I basically made this shit grabbing random LP's from my small collection at the station and my good friend Matthew's.

Stay tooned for more! And thanks for tuning in! Pleas leave comments if you can, they're the only thing that KEEPS THE HOPE ALIVE. ;-()

World Premier Vs. C.O.D. - A new mix that finally doesn't sound like shit!

So I finally figured out how to record into my computer without it sounding like a piece of shit. The only problem I have left is trying to reduce the inner computer chatter that bleeds into the recording. Luckily it's not so loud but at quiet moments it's audible. So now you expect more mixes (I have enough motherfucking records anyway) that you can actually listen to without grinding your teeth.

ENJOY!

Chic Vs. SK Project

Vs.

JK, it's a fun fight! We're all winners! By the way, I could not find an image of the SK Project. Nor could I find and image of vocalist Roberta Gilliam, who is apparently credited on the 1990 12'' release of the featured contender. So instead, here is the emblem of the record label. And here's a particularly great track by Ms. Gilliam. Love love love the bass!

I believe that the great minimal-disco-house duo Metro Area sampled the other contender. Listen to the strings and the wonderfully piercing, falsetto soprano lady harmonies at about 1:18. They will taunt you in your dreams...

Also please enjoy this mix that I made about 45 minutes ago, which would mean shortly after 6 in the morning. MUSIC IS MY ANTI-SLEEP. I am happy to announce that this is my first mix to be recorded DIRECTLY from vinyl to a computer! This should be an improvement, but I'm still working on perfecting it.
